The senior hurdler threw a no-hitter to help lead the Warriors to a 4-1 victory over Jackson in a Western Conference 4A South Division baseball game on April 2. Bernard also was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and he struck out five Jackson batters. ”He was just locating his fastball,” said Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Somoza. “He was coming right after them. … They didn’t really square up on the ball. He hit his spots.” Jackson coach Kirk Nicholson agreed. “He (Bernard) was just overpowering,” Nicholson said. “He got ahead in counts, pitched strikes, and his defense helped him get out of jams in three different innings.”
