Archbishop Thomas Murphy High School began classes Aug. 30 with its largest student body to date. There are 373 students enrolled this year, and they began school with an opening convocation, a formal ceremony marking the start of the academic year.

The school also has new teachers and faculty members.

Rebecca Dee now teaches English to freshmen and sophomores. Jon Baker teaches earth science and biology. Don Anderson teaches the first-ever accounting class at Archbishop Murphy. Karen Towey instructs students in fine arts and Spanish. Margie Ames teaches theology to sophomores and seniors. Michael Zassenhaus teaches German.

Jane Brown has joined the faculty as a counselor, and she will work with students and parents in all four grades. Jeff Schmidt joined the staff as assistant dean of students.

Father Armando Guzman has been named the school chaplain by Archbishop Alex Brunett, and Guzman plans to be at school at least one day each week.
