ATM pitcher commits to George Fox

Archbishop Thomas Murphy senior pitcher Kevin Smith has committed to play baseball for George Fox University in Newberg, Ore.

Smith was 5-3 with a 2.59 ERA for the Wildcats this season. He struck out 45 batters and issued 22 walks in 10 appearances.

George Fox has won the Northwest Conference title four out of the last five years and was one victory away from advancing to the Division III College World Series. The Bruins finished with a 31-13 overall record and were ranked 14th in the country by Collegiate Baseball of America.

TERRACE SIGNINGS: Mountlake Terrace’s Sean Gearin has accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Highline Community College.

Ryan Strieby has accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Edmonds Community College. Strieby also plans to turn out for the basketball team.

Justin Christianson has accepted a scholarship to play football at Claremont-McKenna College in Claremont, Calif.
