‘Battle of the bands’ ready to rock on Saturday

LYNNWOOD — Six local youth bands will compete for prizes and cash and fame at the ‘Battle of the Bands’ on Saturday.

Audience members will win their own door prizes for watching the show.

The show is set from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday May 20, at the Cedar Valley Gym, 19200 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood WA 98036. Admission is $3. Hosted by the city of Lynnwood Teen Programs along with the Lynnwood Teen Advisory Group (LTAG) and Rock-It Music .

The top band will receive $100 cash along with a $100 gift certificate to Rock-It Music. The second place band will receive $50 cash and a $50 gift certificate to Rock-It Music and third place will receive $25 cash and a $25 gift certificate.

The six competing bands are:

• “Pollen” — A grunge rock music band comprised of Aaron Rudeen and Tom Shields of Meadowdale Middle School.

• “Charles Bonnet Syndrome” — A psychedelic rock music band comprised of Alex Myeres, Cody Cruse, Dorian Demetrulias, Sean Freeder and Stephany Leery , who are from Seattle, the University of Washington and the Conservatory of Recording.

• “LoveLess” — A rock music band comprised of Matt Watson, Dylan Gaymor, Trevor Hanzeli and Liam Mcmanus, who attend Mountlake Terrace High School and Edmonds Woodway High School.

• “Terrace Tragedy” — A metalcore music band comprised of Chris Fugate, Shane Hassman, Shane Ford and Nick Smolka of Mountlake Terrace High School .

• “UDS” — A rock and roll music band comprised of Alex Arpin, Nick Maroussis, Taylor Gianotis and Eric Poore, who attend Roosevelt High School and Newport High School.

• “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally” — A jazzcore music band comprised of Kelly Ryan, Calen Nelson, Jeff Shultze, Ricky Bakken, Zack Olsen and Jusing Au, who attend Mountlake Terrace High School, Jackson High School and Cascade High School.
