Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood welcomes the Bellevue Chamber Chorus as begins its 22nd season Dec. 17 with the interactive holiday program, “Nowell Sing We.”

Under the direction of Dr. Fredrick Lokken, the concert will highlight Christmas music old and new. Medieval chant and early carols, including the earliest known version of the familiar “Veni, veni, Emmanuel,” followed by Renaissance motets by Palestrina and Victoria.

Modern Christmas works include Poulenc’s “O magnum mysterium,” Britten’s “A Hymn to the Virgin,” and “Lum Aurumque” (Golden Light) by contemporary American composer Eric Whitacre. Special guest artist Norma Aamodt-Nelson, Trinity’s organist, will be featured with the Chorus on “Magnificat” by English composer Gerald Finzi, and in solo performances on the church’s distinctive Pasi organ.

Contemporary carol arrangements provide an audience caroling sing-along to round out the program.
