Become more energy efficient

Snohomish County Public Utilities District can assist customers in saving energy and money through the following programs:

• Low-interest loans. Customers can get a 2.9 percent loan to help pay for electric energy-efficiency improvements — floor, wall or ceiling insulation, insulated windows, heat pump installation. Work must be pre-approved by PUD.

• Weatherization. Incentives offered for electric energy-saving measures — ceiling, floor, wall and duct insulation, windows, electronic programmable thermostats, heat pumps. PUD covers 50 percent of project costs. Work must be pre-approved by the PUD.

• PUD rebates for qualifying energy efficient appliances. $35 rebate for dishwashers; $50 rebate for refrigerators; and $50 to $100 for clothes washers. For information about clothes washer rebates, visit www.washwiserebate.com or call 1-866-632-4636.

The Cash for Appliances Washington program offers additional rebates for qualifying refrigerators and clothes washers.
