A fire destroyed a Mill Creek home last week, according to fire officials.
Snohomish County Fire District 7 firefighters responded to multiple reports of smoke coming from the roof of a home in the 14700 block of 28th Drive SE around 5 p.m. Aug. 18. Upon arrival, crews found flames coming from the garage and three sides of the home, Fire District 7 spokeswoman Autumn Waite said.
Crews spent roughly 50 minutes knocking down the intense fire.
An older couple was in the house when the fire broke out and escaped after hearing loud noises in their home. They were uninjured and were being taken care of by family, Waite said.
Damage to the home and its contents was estimated at $276,000. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, but an investigator from Snohomish County Fire District 1 is investigating.
Overall, 24 fire personnel responded, including units from Snohomish County Fire District 1. Mill Creek Police assisted with traffic in the area.
