LYNNWOOD — A bomb threat at Barnes and Noble sent thousands of holiday shoppers out into the pouring rain the evening of Friday, Dec. 10.

According to Lynnwood Police officials the caller sounded like a juvenile and store officials believe it was a prank. To be on the safe side, Barnes and Noble, along with all the other stores in the shopping center on the corner of 196th Street SW and Alderwood Mall Parkway, evacuatead their employees and customers.

A check of the building was done and nothing suspicious was found, police said. Employees and the few customers left were able to return to the stores.

The Old Navy store in that shopping center was unusually quiet at about 6 p.m.

Store supervisor Megan Payne said most customers left their goods where they stood and employees did well with gathering themselves and others to a pre-planned safe area.

“The staff did a great job clearing everyone out,” Payne said, adding, “They all knew what to do because of the ongoing training they go through.”
