Everett to host state volleyball

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced last week that the Class 3A and 4A state volleyball tournaments will return to the Everett Events Center in November, albeit a week earlier.

The tournaments, traditionally held the second weekend in November, will be held Nov. 5-6. The time change was made in order to keep the tournaments in Everett, the WIAA said in a press release. The Everett Events Center was not available the following weekend.

Everett hosted the Class 3A and 4A state tournaments for the first time last season.

“The (WIAA Executive) Board decision was based upon the success of the 2003-04 event in Everett,” the WIAA said in the press release. Baseball tryout set for 2/21

The Northwest Scouting Bureau will host a pro baseball tryout from noon-4 p.m. Feb. 21, at Edmonds District Stadium for players 15 and older.

Players will be timed in the 60-yard dash, hit, pitch, demonstrate field skills and show bat speed and pitching velocity. All players must call the Northwest Scouting Bureau at 425-273-6153 to reserve their space or register online at northwestscouting bureau.com.

For more information, call 425-273-6152.
