Locals earn state honors

Several local athletes received all-state honors in volleyball and girls soccer.

In volleyball, Lynnwood senior Molly Hunsinger was a Class 3A honorable mention selection.

King’s sophomore outside hitter Sara Mosiman was named to the Class 1A first team and King’s junior libero Jennifer Kim was a second-team pick.

In girls soccer, Lynnwood forward Sarah Smart, a junior at King’s, received Class 3A second-team honors. Edmonds-Woodway midfielder Hayley Zevenbergen, also a junior at King’s, was a Class 4A honorable mention pick.

Meadowdale defender Alex Dunsdon was a Class 3A second-team honoree and Edmonds-Woodway forward Alex Kirk was Class 4A honorable mention pick.

All-state teams are voted upon by a panel of sports writers state-wide .

Johnson rink wins title

The Wes Johnson rink took first place and pocketed $2,500 in prize money at the second annual Seattle Open Cashspiel Jan. 4 at Seattle’s Granite Curling Club.
