Ryan scores at FT contest

The Bothell Council of the Knights of Columbus presented an International Award Trophy to 14-year old Justin Ryan for making a perfect 25 free throws out of 25 attempts in the 2003 KC Free Throw Competition.

Ryan, a freshman at Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett and the son of Mill Creek Mayor Terry Ryan, was the only competitor this side of the Rockies to achieve the perfect score. 

This annual KC event is open to all boys and girls in the local community from the age of 10 to 14. Competition is held at the council, district, regional, and state levels.

Prep football season starts

The 2003 prep football season starts this weekend for Jackson and defending state champ Archbishop Murphy.

Jackson travels to Anacortes for a 7 p.m. non-league game tonight (Friday, Sept. 5).

Archbishop Murphy takes on Evergreen in a 1 p.m. game tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 6) at Archbishop Murphy High School.
