Pope earns soccer honor

Jackson graduate Kris Pope, a member of Western Washington University men’s soccer team, has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Oct. 27- Nov. 1.

Pope, a sophomore forward, scored two goals and recorded two assists in the Vikings’ 7-1 league win over Humboldt State Nov. 1.

Hawks fall in title game

Trailing 17-0 at halftime, the Eastside Hawks rallied for 17 unanswered points in the third quarter but it wasn’t enough as Kane County Eagles pulled out a 24-17 victory in the NAFL championship game Nov. 1 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Eastside’s Julian Williams was named defensive MVP of the game. Top-ranked Kane County finished the season 16-0.
