YMCA seeks volunteers

The South County YMCA is seeking volunteers to work with preschool-age through teenage children in youth sports and after school programs. For more information about volunteering in youth sports, teen activities or other YMCA programs, contact Phillipa Bell at 206-364-1700 or pbell@sh.seattle ymca.org.

Hoopsters recognized

Two area girls basketball players are considered to be among the state’s top recruits for the class of 2005 and 2006, according to HoopGurlz.com.

Meadowdale’s Ashley Fenimore (5-7 point guard) makes the 2005 list. Teammate Caitlyn Rohrbach (5-10 wing) is considered tops among the class of 2006.

Grifol back as ‘Sox manager

The Everett AquaSox announced the return of Pedro Grifol as manager of the ballclub. Coach Darrin Garner and trainer Spyder Webb will also join the Everett crew again. Pitching coach Marcos Garcia comes back to Everett after spending a year with the Seattle Mariners’ rookie team in Peoria, Ariz.
