Mav guard chooses SPU
Meadowdale point guard Ashley Fenimore made a verbal commitment to play at Seattle Pacific University, according to Meadowdale coach Karen Blair.
Fenimore, who started for Meadowdale’s 3A state-championship team last year along with current SPU freshman forward Quinn Brewe, also considered Oregon State, Gonzaga, Nevada-Reno, Eastern Washington and UC Riverside. She holds Meadowdale records for assists in a game, a season and a career.
E-W standout heads south
Edmonds-Woodway volleyball player Erin Greenwood has made a verbal commitment to play for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, according to E-W coach Mike Pittis.
Greenwood, a 6-foot-4 senior middle blocker, led the Warriors (5-4 Western Conference South, 8-9 overall) to the Class 4A District 1 tournament, where they finished their season. Pittis, who has coached high school volleyball for 32 years, said last week Greenwood might be the best player he has seen.
“Her work ethic is just amazing, her commitment to her team. She’s become the heart and soul of (the team).”
“It’s been an absolute honor and a privilege to work with her.”
In 14 regular-season matches Greenwood had 191 kills (13.6 per match) and 24 service aces, both team highs.
