Knakal wins crew race
Theresa Knakal of Mill Creek was a member of the team that took first place in the women’s division at the Tail of the Lake Regatta Oct. 3 on Lake Union. Knakla and teammates Sandra McGinnis, Tawney Roller and Jan Gifford finished the 4,000-meter course in a time of 16:00.87.
SCCS player headed east
Snohomish County Christian School senior Tara Holgate has made a verbal commitment to play basketball for Eastern Washington.
Holgate led SCCS to the Class B state tournament last year and was named the MVP of the all-star state game in Spokane last spring.
EdCC grad earns honor
Western Washington University forward Ryan Hopp has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Sept. 26-Oct. 2.
The Edmonds Community College graduate had four goals in leading the Vikings to three wins over Far West Region opponents last week. Hopp already has 12 goals this season, six of them game winners.
