Kirton to play in E/W game

Jackson’s Johnie Kirton will be among the players at this weekend’s 2004 East West All Star Class 4A football game. The 40th annual game will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, June 26) at Everett Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $6.

Archbishop Murphy’s Terry Ennis will be coaching the West team in Class 1A all-star game in Yakima tomorrow. Wildcats Jevon Butler, Nate Thompson and Doug VanderWel are among the players.

ATM honors top athletes

Fifteen student-athletes from Archbishop Murphy High School earned Scholar Athlete awards. The 15 individuals maintained a 3.6 cumulative GPA as of their seventh semester and have lettered in at least one varsity sport during their high school career. The 15 were Tim Burke, Andy Hewitt, Steve Alkire, Amy Axley, Alyson Enger, Caitlin Moran, Haley Bavasi, Jessica Dahmen, Danielle Shandera, Chris Knox, John McDonnell, Caitlin Warnock, Emilie Kimball, Robert Vandermeulen and Jeff Daviscourt.
