Fire foundation

elects officers

The Edmonds Fire Safety Foundation held its Annual General Board meeting last month to elect its new board of directors. The members are as follows: Chuck Cain, president; Don Olsen, vice president; Gail Welfringer, secretary, and Joy Cain, treasurer.

Members of the Foundation work year-round to support the Edmonds Fire Department. A montbly meeting is held the first Monday of each month with Chief Tom Tomberg and other members of his staff to discuss the needs of the fire department and to plan ways to raise funds necessary to meet these needs. Since the recent severe cut in the fire department’s budget, the Foundation and its work are more important than ever.

One goal is to install defibrillators in several public places in downtown Edmonds, such as the Frances Anderson Center, the Snohomish County Senior Center, and any other place where the public gather.

Donations to the Fire Safety Foundation may be sent to the Edmonds Fire Safety Foundation, P.O. Box 157, Edmonds, WA 98020. To learn more about the foundation or about serving on the board, call Chuck Cain at 425- 776-1596.
