Wastemobile event scheduled
King County residents can bring their household wastes to a three-day event 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 13-15 at the Aurora Square Sears, 15711 Aurora Ave. N.
The service, called the Hazardous Wastemobile, collects 24 million pounds of household hazardous waste and recycles or reuses 98 percent of collected waste.
Accepted items include pesticides, chlorine bleach, paint products and automotive products, such as oil, antifreeze and auto batteries. There is no charge for collection.

New equipment at Spartan Gym
The Spartan Gym has received additional exercise equipment due to grant from the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses in Seattle.
The equipment is accessible to people with disabilities. The equipment is available during Spartan Gym drop-in hours, 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
To promote the use of the equipment, a reception is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Spartan Gym, 18560 First Ave. NE.

Lake Forest Park officials encourage residents to clear any blocked storm drains that are in front of their property. To request service from the city, please call City Hall at 206-368-5440.
Northshore offers emergency classes
The Northshore Fire Department is offering a FEMA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy beginning Feb. 5 and ending April 1. The CERT Academy consists of eight classes.
Each class is held on a Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kenmore Fire Station located at 18030 73rd Ave.
The course is free to those who reside or work in the Northshore Fire Department response area, which includes Lake Forest Park and Kenmore. Students residing outside the Fire District will be assessed a materials fee. Class size is limited.

Shoreline seeks Planning members
Shoreline is accepting applications through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 from those interested in serving on the Shoreline Planning Commission.
Applicants must be Shoreline residents or owners of property in Shoreline and should have an interest in environmental affairs, planning, land use and residential and commercial development.
The Planning Commission consists of nine members. Planning Commission members are appointed by the City Council for four-year terms and have regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Duties of members include conducting public hearings and making recommendations to the City Council and reviewing land use development applications.
