Take home art from Schack Art Center fundraiser

EVERETT — People who purchase a ticket to the Schack Art Center “100 Pieces of Glass” event will leave with a new piece of art for their home. The glass art pieces, valued at $100 or $250, have been procured from local and regional artists to help fund the warm glass shop in the new Schack Art Center.

The event is scheduled 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 11 and will feature fine wines and desserts. All event proceeds will go toward funding the equipment for the warm shop.

EVERETT — Tickets are still available for the Everett Community College Foundation fundraiser Gusto!

Gusto! celebrates food, wine and microbrews from around the world with a tasting from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena in Everett. All proceeds from Gusto! benefit the Everett Community College Foundation, which funds college scholarships, equipment and programs.

Technology predictions for 2011 dinner program set

SEATTLE — Back by popular demand, John Cook, co-founder and executive director of TechFlash, returns as moderator of the annual Washington Technology Industry Association’s predictions panel, set for 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17. Come and join these futurists as they attempt to predict what technological innovations are expected in 2011 and beyond.

Panelists include Chris DeVore, Founders Co-op and Techstars Seattle; Sunny Gupta, CEO at Apptio; and Greg Gottesman, managing director at Madrona Venture Group.

Cook will pull out last year’s predictions to see what was right and wrong.
