Northwest Hot 100 introductory workshop – Feb. 6 and 20

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold free Northwest Hot 100 introductory workshops from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 and 20 at the chamber office, 3815 196th St. SW, Suite 136, in Lynnwood. The workshops will help attendees interested in rapid growth, sustainability and profitability to determine if they qualify for the Northwest Hot 100 Business Acceleration Program. Zonta Club of Everett meetings – Feb. 7 and 21

The Zonta Club of Everett will hold its February business meeting at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Everett Golf &Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. Breakfast will cost $13. The group will hold its February program meeting at noon Feb. 21 at the Everett Golf &Country Club. The program will focus on the donation of funds to the organization’s specially selected service programs in Snohomish County that improve the status of women. Attorney general luncheon — Feb. 8

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will host Washington state Attorney General Rob McKenna during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood. McKenna will discuss how to keep consumers and businesses safe from high-tech scams, protect against identity theft and promote governmental integrity by encouraging open access to government. Aerospace conference – Feb. 11 and 12

The Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance will hold its annual conference Feb. 11 and 12 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. This year’s theme, “Supply Chain 21st Century,” is supported by a lineup of aerospace experts that includes aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia’s business outlook for 2008 as well as representatives from Boeing, Airbus and Dassault, among others. The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce continues its Empower YOUniversity seminar series with “Why Making Your Products Easy to Buy, Own and Refer is a Winning Business Strategy” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 12 at United Way of Snohomish County, 3120 McDougall Ave., Suite 200, in Everett. Alice Cunningham, co-owner and co-founder of Olympic Hot Tub Co., will discuss how to help customers become strong advocates for a company’s products and services, spend less on advertising and reinvest the funds back into the company, and ensure that customers continue to do business with a company. State of the County 2008 – Feb. 13

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon will give his State of the County 2008 address during an Everett Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., in Everett. Business tax workshop – Feb. 13

The Washington state Department of Revenue will hold a free Business Outreach workshop to discuss the basics of state taxes and tax reporting responsibilities from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Everett Public Library, 2707 Hoyt Ave., in Everett. Tax reporting classifications, deductions, sales tax collection and recordkeeping requirements will be discussed. John Koster’s Business Roundtable — Feb. 14

Snohomish County Councilman John Koster will hold a Business Roundtable on Feb. 14 at the Monte Cristo Hotel, 1507 Wall St., in Everett. Education will be the focus of the roundtable, and a diverse panel of experts will discuss current educational issues with business and community leaders and educational advocates. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the meeting will begin at 7 a.m., concluding at 8:30 a.m. Cost to attend the event, which will include a breakfast buffet, is $25. Business Plan Writing Short Course – Feb. 14 and 21

Community Capital Development’s Women’s Business Centers will offer the Business Plan Writing Short Course, a two-session workshop, from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 and 21 at the CCD office, 1437 S. Jackson St., in Seattle. The workshop series is designed to provide instruction on how to write a business plan and the importance of strategic planning. Instructors for the course will be business assistance professionals from Community Capital Development. The Feb. 14 session will cover strategic planning and why it is important, internal and external evaluation, and the mission statement. Also discussed will be the four “P’s” of marketing, target markets, competition and budgeting. The Feb. 21 session will cover management issues such as key management personnel, the organizational chart, the staffing plan, record keeping, use of technology and the advisory team. Also discussed will be financials, including cash-flow projections, income statements and balance sheets. The second session is only open to those who have attended the Feb. 14 session. “Million Dollar Marketing Secrets” – Feb. 15

The Everett Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training will present “Million Dollar Marketing Secrets” from 8 to 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at the Northwest Women’s Business Center, 2333 Seaway Blvd., Suite 108, in Everett. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Katie Evans, a Seattle entrepreneur and hypnotist, will be the featured speaker. Evans created the Living Lite Weight Loss Program in 1987. It’s now the Living Lite Hypnosis Centers with offices and franchises across the United States. Evans is a graduate of psychology from the University of Washington and a lifelong Washington resident. Seattle SCORE will hold a workshop on Starting and Growing a Consulting Business from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at 2401 Fourth Ave., Suite 450 in Seattle. Attendees will learn how to turn their professional expertise and experience into a profitable consulting business, with information on how to generate business through “word of mouth” and how to work smart.
