Call for actors: Edmonds Community College’s Theatre Arts Department seeks four black actors, three female and one male age 15-40, and one white female actor age 20-35 for its upcoming production of “Crumbs From the Table of Joy,” set in the early days of the civil rights movement. Arrive to audition 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 or 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan 10 in the Black Box Theatre in Mukilteo Hall at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Call for volunteers: The City of Lynnwood is seeking applicants for an opening on the Lynnwood Arts Commission. This Mayor-appointed position, which is confirmed by the City Council, has a three-year term. Applicants must live within Lynnwood city limits. The Lynnwood Arts Commission is made up of seven volunteers who work to support the arts in Lynnwood. The work of past and present Arts Commissioners has helped to build a thriving arts program including public art, gallery, free performance series through the year, and arts classes at the Recreation Center. In addition, the Commission helps to develop partnerships with many organizations and individuals. There is no deadline to apply.

Call for artists: The City of Edmonds seeks qualifications from individual artists/designers or teams to design, fabricate and install a permanent hard surface design element at three BRT station platforms that will be built on SR 99 in Edmonds. The Community Transit Bus Rapid Transit program extends 17 miles from Everett to Aurora Village in Shoreline and three of the new platforms will be located in Edmonds. The “map of Edmonds” concept may be stylized or abstracted but should include reference to points of interest in the geography, culture, and history of Edmonds. Deadline: Jan. 6, 2009. Call for presenters: Presenter proposals are now being accepted for the 24th Annual Write on the Sound Writers’ Conference presented by the Edmonds Arts Commission. The two and a half day conference focused on the craft of writing takes place Oct. 2-4, 2009. The conference offers a variety of workshops with authors, instructors and trade professionals that are a mix of how-to/hands-on, genre based and motivation. Also included in the weekend is a keynote speaker, a writing contest, manuscript critiques, an on-site bookstore. The conference begins on Friday with a choice of 4 half-day pre-conference workshops. Interested individuals are invited to send a professional resume that includes information about teaching or presentation experience, works published, if appropriate, and a description of one or more 75 or 90 minute classes for consideration. Call to artists: The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council seeks original artwork and graphic design for the 19th annual Shoreline Arts Festival poster. The 2009 Shoreline Arts Festival theme is “Weaving a Cultural Tapestry,” with a focus on ethnic heritage and cultural diversity in our communities. Artwork should be existing work and graphic design will be created specifically for the poster. An artist/graphic designer may be selected, or an artist and a graphic designer may be selected. The poster will be used to promote this two-day community event celebrating all the arts: music, dance, visual arts, literary arts, theater, film, and crafts to be held at Shoreline Center on June 27 and 28, 2009.
