The Edmonds Fire Department was dispatched to 98 calls in and around Edmonds the week of Jan. 26 through Feb. 1, which brings this year’s call volume to 421. Medical crews evaluated 61 patients; fire crews responded to 37 incidents.

Fire Responses

On Jan. 27, a 911 caller reported a “camper on fire” in Lynnwood. Edmonds fire crews responded and were instructed to stand by but were released from the scene after several minutes.

On Jan. 29, Edmonds firefighters were dispatched to a motor home fire at 236th Street Southwest and Highway 99.

Upon arrival they found a 28-foot RV parked on the street with smoke darkening all windows and escaping through a roof vent.

Fire crews used a bolt cutter on the padlocked door to make access. Although the motor home was unoccupied at the time, a transient was staying there with the owner’s permission.

The fire-origin investigation determined that the fire was caused by careless smoking or candle use.

The burned RV was impounded by Edmonds Police Department.
