Celebration of Lights helped raise money for kids

  • Thursday, January 10, 2008 10:10am

On behalf of the city of Edmonds, I would like to thank all those who chose to “light a light” during the 2007 holiday season.

126 lights were lit in the names of loved ones during this year’s Celebration of Lights campaign, raising $1,070 for the Youth Scholarship Fund. Each year the department provides approximately $2,000 in scholarships to enable children in Edmonds to participate in the city of Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services programs that wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.

This was the ninth year that a living fir tree was lit and placed outside the Frances Anderson Center for the holiday season. After the holidays, the tree will be planted in the interior of Yost Park.

Once again, our thanks to all who participated in this program.
