Lake Forest Park gets its share of summer fun as the community prepares for its annual Picnic in the Park event at the Lake Forest Park Towne Center July 23 and 24.
The celebration starts at 7 p.m. Friday, July 23 with a free concert and dance featuring the music of Blue Raven. Residents are invited to bring a picnic and listen to music or dance the night away. Box lunches and hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for sale. Tables and chair will be provided.
A full day of activities is planned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Rotary Pancake Breakfast and Chuck Wagon begins serving at 8 a.m. The children’s parade leaves Animal Acres Park at 9:30 a.m. and children and families are welcome to march in the parade from Animal Acres Park to the shopping center. Upon arrival, children’s activities, including free games, bouncer equipment, story telling, magic and face painting are planned. Seattle children’s icon J.P. Patches will be on stage from 11 a.m. to noon entertaining kids of all ages.
There’s a Classic Car Show from 9 a.m. to noon, spotlighting vintage vehicles and street rods. Booths with information, crafts and other items will be on hand, including reduced price bike helmets and a health fair. A Used Book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Lake Forest Park Library, takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at entrance to the LFP Library and features fiction, nonfiction, children’s books for sale to benefit library programs. The day winds down with an evening of music at Third Place Commons.
