You may not be aware that some of Edmonds’ most popular and significant recurring events are sponsored and produced by the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
Member businesses and individuals, along with a tremendous number of volunteers from the Edmonds service clubs, the Senior Center, churches, schools and just plain interested citizens, work long and hard to produce these events for our city.
The result of all this effort: Fun events for Edmonds residents young and old and more visitors to our city who come to enjoy our festivals, parades and markets and contribute to the financial vitality of our locally owned businesses and the tax coffers of our fair city.
What are these events for which the chamber is responsible?
• The 4th of July Parade and fireworks — Many Edmonds residents’ favorite event. Chamber members and volunteers organize the parade (including the children’s parade) and fund and produce the fireworks display. 2007 marks the 100th anniversary of chamber sponsorship of an “Edmonds Kind of 4th”!
• A Taste of Edmonds — One of the biggest and most successful annual festivals held in the State, the Taste draws tens of thousands of visitors to Edmonds every year and is enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike. 2007 is also a major anniversary for the Taste of Edmonds, which marks its 25th year this summer.
• Hot Autumn Nites — The September downtown car show is one of our newer events, but has grown in both participation by the enthusiasts who display their vehicles and by visitors and residents who come to enjoy the show. It’s a fun day in downtown Edmonds.
• Halloween Downtown — The chamber and the downtown businesses provide a safe and enjoyable Halloween “Trick or Treat” opportunity for Edmonds families, as well as a photo opportunity for costumed children.
• Christmas Tree Lighting — Lighting the Christmas tree and Santa’s parade highlight this annual event, which takes place along Fifth Avenue every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
In addition to these annual events, the chamber holds its membership luncheon and a chamber after hours social &networking gathering monthly as well as quarterly “Speed Networking” breakfasts where all business people are welcome (chamber members and non-members alike) to gather for an opportunity to meet potential business clients and vendors.
If you are looking to get involved in your community, whether as an individual with time and talents to share, or as a business looking to add customers and local sources for your own purchases, the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is the place to be. We are observing our 100th Anniversary as a chamber during 2007 and there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and help us celebrate.
If you would like to join the party, contact the Chamber staff during business hours, by phone, email or just stop by. Get involved! Help us make it happen in Edmonds!
