Shoreline based Choir of the Sound’s 100-plus voices and full orchestra will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” as the group presents it 27th annual classical concert over two days: Saturday, March 13 in Shoreline and Sunday, March 14 in Lynnwood.
Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” is an epic piece that dramatizes superhuman trials in a story of faith that resonates in a complex modern age as it has throughout history. The choir and orchestra will be directed by Robert Metzger, and the performance will feature soloists Eleanor Stallcop-Horrox, soprano, Emily Lunde, mezzo-soprano, Howard Fankhauser, tenor, and Wil Holm, baritone.
Choir of the Sound is a non-profit, all volunteer organization affiliated with Shoreline Community College. The choir was founded in 1977 and has since grown to more than 100 active members. The choir offers three concerts annually, including Pops selections, a Classical concert, and the winter Holiday concert.
Saturday’s performance takes place at 7 p.m. at the Shorecrest High School Performing Arts Center, located at 15343 25” Ave. NE in Shoreline. Sunday’s performance is set for 3 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, located at 6511 176th St. SW in Lynnwood.
