The Lake Ballinger Watershed Forum invites you to attend an open house on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 7-9 p.m. at the Ballinger Lake Golf Course Clubhouse, 23000 Lakeview Drive, Mountlake Terrace.

The Open House is an opportunity to share knowledge, gather information and provide feedback in preparation for developing a Strategic Action Plan for the watershed. The Forum was formed through an interlocal agreement between Snohomish County and cities within the watershed including Edmonds, Lake Forest Park, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and Shoreline.

More information on the Lake Ballinger Watershed Forum open house is available by calling Mountlake Terrace’s stormwater program manager Mike Shaw at 425-670-8264 ext. 105.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding residents to change the batteries in their fire detectors and smoke alarms when they change their clocks this weekend.

Sunday, Nov. 2, marks the end of Daylight Savings Time, and the semi-annual changing of the clocks is a good time to replace batteries in fire detectors and smoke alarms.

An early warning can provide critical extra seconds to escape. Smoke alarms double your family’s chance of getting out of a home fire alive — but only if they work.

Eighty-three percent of all civilian fire-related deaths nationwide are the result of home fires, and on average, nearly three children a day die in these fires.
