Relay for Life needs more teams

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life, set for May 17 and 18 from noon to noon at Shoreline Stadium, still needs more teams to sign up to participate.

Relay For Life, organized by the American Cancer Society, offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out and take turns walking, running, skipping or strolling around a track. Each team of 8-12 people is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the 24-hours of the event. Because the American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a community gathering rather than an athletic event, anyone and everyone can participate. Teams form from businesses, clubs, families, friends, hospitals, churches, schools, and service organizations.

The final team captain’s meeting will be at 8 p.m. May 1 in the Alumni Room of Shoreline Center.

There are other ways to be involved with the event as well. Organizations are encouraged to sponsor the event through tax-deductible cash or in-kind donations. The event committee is also looking for entertainment such as clowns, dancers or musicians, to volunteer to entertain the event participants.

For more information on how you can be involved in the Shoreline American Cancer Society Relay for Life please contact Dina at 206-367-0235 or via email at shoreline_relay@juno.com or call the American Cancer Society staff partner Annie Schmidt @ 425-741-8949 option 3 or via e-mail at Annie.Schmidt@cancer.org
