Police offer citizen’s academy
The Shoreline Police Department invites residents to this year’s Citizen’s Academy. Together the King County Sheriff’s Office and Shoreline Police have designed a program to increase the understanding between citizens and their police department through education to give citizens a better understanding of the law enforcement role in the criminal justice system, and an appreciation for the many challenges facing law enforcement in today’s complex society.
The class is limited to residents of Shoreline, or those who work in the City of Shoreline. It will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. March 25 through May 27 at the King County Sheriff’s Office Precinct 2 in Kenmore. The class size is limited and will be filled on first come, first serve basis. Applications are available at the main Police Station and Neighborhood Storefronts. There is no cost for this great experience. If you have questions please contact: Sgt. Kain at 546-6674, Officer Akers at 363-8424, or Officer Obstler at 546-3636
LFP Court offers Amnesty
Lake Forest Park Municipal Court will offer a Warrant and Collection Amnesty Program Feb 20-21. Persons with fines in collections with the collection agency, Allied Credit Services, will be able to come into the court or the collection agency and pay the original base fine. All penalties and interest will be waived.
This program allows people to clear up unpaid traffic tickets and criminal fines in collection. Once the fine is paid on a traffic infraction, the court will provide notice to the Department of Licensing to lift the hold on the person’s license.
On Friday Feb. 21 the Court will hold its first Warrant Amnesty Day. Any person with an outstanding arrest warrant in our court will be able to come into court and have the warrant lifted. The prosecutor and public defender will be in court to assist anyone who wants to resolve his or her case. The Court will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for this special program. The Court anticipates the Warrant and Collection Amnesty Program will help close many outstanding cases and assist people in getting back their drivers’ licenses.
