Construction season continues on a variety of roads in and around Mill Creek.

In Mill Creek

In the city of Mill Creek, the contractor on the Main Street south connector project last week poured concrete curbs around the new driveway entrances for developments in the work area, and installed storm drainage facilities.

Work continued on those two aspects of the projects this past week, and construction should begin on the roadway retaining walls immediately south of Town Center.

Repaving work on city streets has been completed, said city engineer Scott Smith. As of press time, crews were doing clean-up work and roadway striping as weather permitted. With rain earlier this week, crews could still be on local roads striping into next week.

In the county

Outside of the Mill Creek city limits, a variety of roads are subject to closures.

The newest closure begins Monday, Aug. 30. A single lane on 171st Place SE between 23rd and 26th avenues SE will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until Sept. 30 for utility work.

Drivers southeast of Mill Creek can expect daytime lane closures on 35th Avenue SE and 180th Street SE until Sept. 15. One lane of traffic is being closed at the intersection so construction crews can complete grading, storm water drainage improvements, repaving and other intersection improvements.

In addition, a lane on 169th St. SE between Sunset Road and 35th Avenue SE is being closed so crews can install utilities and frontage improvements for a subdivision.

West of Mill Creek, Third Avenue SE north of 156th Place SE is subject to a lane closure during the day so construction crews can install sewer, water and frontage improvements. That closure is in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Oct. 4.

Drivers on 13th Drive SE south of 196th Street SE can expect a lane closure so crews can extend a sewer line. That daytime closure is in effect until Sept. 30.
