Port redevelopment explored
Another in the series of community meetings regarding the future redevelopment of Harbor Square is being hosted by the Port of Edmonds 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 21, at the former Edmonds Yacht club space below Anthyony’s Homeport restaurant.
This will be the conclusion of the current series of public meetings aimed at gathering public input on the future of Harbor Square. Another round of meetings will begin later this fall.

Chamber announces golf event
The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Dave Stern Memorial Golf Classic will be Aug. 23 at the Harbour Pointe Golf Club, 11817 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Local chef receives national distinction
G. Fleur Hickey-Munro has earned the certified sous chef designation from the American Culinary Federation. Hickey-Munro is chef/owner at Food and Wine Catering, Mountlake Terrace.
The ACF program certifies nearly 9,000 professionals worldwide. Candidates for ACF certification must pass a written and practical examination plus complete coursework in food safety, nutrition and management.

Board and commissioners named
The city of Mountlake Terrace has appointed Jeremy Perry and Danielle Smith to the Community Policing Advisory Board, and Robert Reedy to the Library Board. Reappointments include Lori Knight to the Arts Advisory Commission; Yvonne Jones to the Community Policing Advisory Board; Patrick Pierce, Vic Sood, Bryan Wahl and Mike Wicklander to the Planning Commission; and Keith Edholm, Ann Nygaard and Linda Rogers to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission.
Mayor’s farewell reception
A farewell reception for Edmonds Mayor Gary Haakenson will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. July 1 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. Haakenson is leaving his post on July 1 to assume the role of Deputy County Executive at Snohomish County the following week.

MLT receives finance award
For the third year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded a Certificate of Achievement to the city of Mountlake Terrace for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2008 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
Mountlake Terrace is one of 36 cities in the state to receive a certificate.

• Edmonds council member to complete the remaining term of Dave Orvis, through Dec. 31. Deadline for submitting applications is 4:30 p.m. June 21. Council will interview candidates June 29. Nominations will be considered July 6.
• Citizens levy committee. Seven positions open for residents. Deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. June 18. Appointments will be made July 6.
