Blossom Cohon and Samantha Lim encountered two familiar faces in the finals of last week’s Northwest District 4A doubles tournament.
In a rematch of the Western Conference South Division tournament, the Shorewood duo faced Edmonds-Woodway’s Ashley Wagner and Joleen Laue.
The top-seeded Warriors defeated Cohon and Lim 6-2, 6-3 in the winner-to-state district championship match May 21 at Arlington High School.
Cohon and Lim received the district’s remaining state berth by virtue of a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 semifinal victory over consolation champions Courtney Gale and Joy Fodge of Snohomish.
The Class 4A state tennis tournaments run May 28-29 at University and Central Valley high schools in Spokane.
Shorewood juniors Scott Bourne and Steve McCall are making their second consecutive appearance in the boys doubles draw.
In the fall, Bourne and McCall capped an unbeaten season by claiming Wesco South and Northwest District titles. The duo hasn’t lost since last year’s state tournament.
