Arts foundation awards scholarships

The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation recently awarded 22 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college students studying visual arts.

Samantha Piercy, graduating from Meadowdale High School, will attend the Cleveland Institute of Art. She received the Anna E. Sambataro Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship provided by the Sambataro Family Foundation.

From Edmonds-Woodway High School, Megan Lees and Makayla Deppa will attend Western Washington University and Reyna Marquez will attend Shoreline Community College.

Meadowdale High School student Kelsey Barnes will attend Pacific Lutheran University and Edmonds Heights student Sarah Sprouse will attend Parsons in Paris, France.

Students selected from the Edmonds Community College visual arts program were Cynthia Campbell, Sun Kyung Kim, Edward Arriesgado and Tsz (Erin) Chan. Each plans to continue at EdCC.

Students who have been awarded previous scholarships and received renewals this year: Taylor Callaway at Boston University, Spencer Shores, Elise Butters and Mariya Dudyshyn at Cornish College of the Arts, Bryn Fraker at California College of the Arts, Erinn McGraw at the University of Washington, Amanda Rengli at Western Washington University, Christopher Seto at Emerson College in Boston, Sara Portesan at Whitman College, Audi Asaf at Goddard College, Rachel Myers at the International Academy of Design and Technology, and Juan Valdez at Savannah College of the Art and Design.
