Shoreline Community College wants to hire a consultant who will work with and may reorganize the Shoreline Community College Foundation to raise more money for the college.

“These people are interested in raising millions,” said Lee Lambert, college president, at the Feb. 28 college Board of Trustees meeting. “I want to be in that league. There is a cost to this, but we need to make an investment.”

Proposals from three consultants are on the table, ranging in cost from $5400 a month plus expenses to a $58,000 flat rate.

“It’s a review of the Foundation’s structure and direction, the relationship between the college and the Foundation, and community perceptions,” said Ritva Manchester, Development and Foundation acting director.

“The question to the consultants was around the lines of examining the structure of our Foundation and how we can strengthen our fundraising capacity and ready ourselves for a long-term fundraising campaign,” said Judy Yu, director of communications for the college.

The public was able to meet this month at open forums two of the consultants who submitted proposals. The final meeting will be held from 2:45-3:30 p.m. in Room 1105 at the college to meet Marianne Briscoe of California.
