New hours at waste facility

To keep rates down, King County Solid Waste Division is changing the hours at its solid waste facilities. Previously, all facilities had the same hours. But to be more cost efficient, King County is changing the hours to better match the hours when individual facilities are used most by customers.

The First NE Solid Waste Facility in Shoreline will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday beginning June 28 through Sept. 15. From Sept. 16 through April 15, they will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

According to King County, these hour changes will allow the County to postpone solid waste rate increases that were scheduled for 2005 until 2007.

“Yesterday’s Tomorrows” is part of the Museum on Main Street program, a partnership of the Smithsonian Institution, State Humanities Councils and American towns and small cities.

The program was established in 1991 in response to the challenge facing small museums to enhance their cultural legacies. The exhibit will tour Washington State through 2005.
