Lions Club collecting glasses

The Mill Creek Lions Club, in conjunction with Mill Creek Alliance Church, is collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids as part of the Lions Club Spectacle Sunday.

The event takes place at a variety of area churches this Sunday, Oct. 23. Collection boxes will be at various churches, including Mill Creek Alliance Church, which is meeting at the Tri-Way Grange, 3509 Seattle Hill Road.

Dumas Road dedication Nov. 4

The city of Mill Creek will have a dedication ceremony for the recently-completed Dumas Road project.

The event takes place at 11 a.m. Nov. 4, at the intersection of Dumas and Park roads. Immediately following the ceremony will be a barbecue at the Mill Creek Sports Park hosted by KPG, the design engineer for the project.

Used book sale nets over $1,000

The Oct. 8 Friends of the Mill Creek Library used book sale brought in $1,370, the organization reported.

The group, however, is selling additional items on e-bay and expects those sales will allow the group to top its single-sale record of $1,635.75, which was set at the spring sale earlier this year.

Lions seeking vendors for bazaar

The Mill Creek Lions Club is seeking vendors for its second annual craft bazaar, which will take place Dec. 2-3 at the Tri-Way Grange Hall, 3509 Seattle Hill Road, Mill Creek.

Child safety seat installations

Snohomish County Fire District 7 offers child safety seat installation. Installation times are by appointment because not all fire stations have a certified child safety seat technician on every shift.

Rescue Pup in need of donations

Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.

Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a pet supply store operated by Rescue Pup, which is located at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.

In addition to donations, the organization also needs volunteers to serve as foster homes for dogs it receives.

DARE chocolate shield fund raiser

Mill Creek police are selling police department chocolate shields for $2 to benefit the DARE program.

The shields were made from a mold that features the Mill Creek water wheel and the words “Mill Creek Police.” The shields can be purchased at the police department’s service counter inside City Hall, 15728 Main St.
