Andy Anderson, CEO of Anderson House, and Pam Matiko Anderson House owner/administrator and also a board member of The Northwest Hospital Foundation, present a check for $10,000 to Mark McCampbell, president of the foundation at the Northwest Hospital Gala on Oct. 29. The check will go directly to the Northwest Hospital Cancer Lifeline partnership to benefit the cancer-care services offered at Northwest.

Stressful holidays? Take a class

A class entitled “When Christmas Isn’t So Merry: dealing with stress during the holidays” is offered for the community and Northwest Church members at two sessions: 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Dec. 4 at the Northwest Church’s Family Life Center, located at 15555 15th Ave. NE. Sill to return to Shoreline libraries

Longtime Richmond Beach library manager Anina Codder Sill, who was to be relocated due to a new clustering process implemented by King County Library System, will eventually be returning to Shoreline libraries.

Sill, who was to be transferred to a library cluster in Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and Bothell libraries, presented the KCLS director with a proposal to stay in the Shoreline and Richmond Beach libraries cluster, said Julie Wallace, community relations manager for KCLS.

The proposal was accepted and Sill will be working with the Bothell, Kenmore and Lake Forest Park management team while another librarian is out of the country on sabbatical, but will return in April to the Shoreline cluster.

Free meditation classes offered

Achieve the relaxing state of mental silence and become self-controlled and free of stress at Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes at 7 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 1 and 15. The free classes will be held at the Richmond Beach Library, located at 19601 21st Ave. NW., in Shoreline.

Medicare session

at Shoreline library

 Learn About Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage and get questions answered at a free information session at 11 a.m. (for English speakers) or 1 p.m. (for Korean speakers) on Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Shoreline Library, located at 345 NE. 175th St., Shoreline.

This program is sponsored by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Social Security Administration 

Shoreline holiday tree lighting set

Join your neighbors to ring in the holiday season at the Shoreline Holiday Tree Lighting in North City at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

The celebration will be held at Les Schwab on 15th Avenue NE and NE 180th Street. Musical performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and festivities include photos with Santa, a sing along and the ceremonial lighting of the tree on top of the water tower.

Organizers are currently collecting gifts (about $1 value) for Santa to give out to children. To donate, drop off items at Les Schwab no later than Friday Dec. 2.
