Heatherwood potluck planned
Residents of the Heatherwood division are having a potluck from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 9, at the East Neighborhood Pocket Park between 32nd and 30th in The Parks. The event is to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Garden Club program set
The Mill Creek Garden Club’s first meeting of year will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 13, at the Mill Creek Country Club. The program will feature Raul Ramirez.
Ramirez will design arrangements for the fall season and will do so using late summer and fall flowers. He will also display creative ideas for autumn holiday tables.
Club membership is open to all gardeners. Annual dues are $20 and meetings are held at the Mill Creek Country Club the second Tuesday of each month except in June, July and August. Lunch for members is $17 and $20 for non-members.

Place for pampered pets
Paddywack, a pet store in the Mill Creek Town Center, caters to pampered pooches and finicky felines. The pet boutique offers an inviting atmosphere and welcomes pets through its doors. Cats, available for adoption through the Humane Society, roam the store freely. Pick up all your pet needs, including doggie birthday cakes, frozen, raw pet foods and fashion items, including designer totes, clothing and locally designed collars and leashes.
Paddywack hosts its first Tongue &Chic Fall Fashion Show from 6:30-9 p.m. Sept. 30. The event features puppy couture and “yappitizers” for dogs. Twenty percent of the night’s proceeds benefit the nonprofit Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue.

Child safety seat installations
Snohomish County Fire District 7 offers child safety seat installation. Installation times are by appointment because not all fire stations have a certified child safety seat technician on every shift.

Rescue Pup needs donations
Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.
Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a pet supply store operated by Rescue Pup, which is located at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.
In addition to donations, the organization also needs volunteers to serve as foster homes for dogs it receives.
