City boards have multiple openings

The city of Mill Creek is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on the Design Review Board and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

Two full terms are vacant and a mid-term vacancy is available on the Design Review Board. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has two openings.

Both boards meet once a month at city hall. The parks board is an advisory board to the City Council, and all members must be residents of the city. The Design Review Board reviews all applications requiring building permits to ensure visual quality throughout the city. Design Review Board members do not need to be Mill Creek residents.

If interested in volunteering, send a letter of interest to Sherrie Ringstad, city of Mill Creek, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek, WA, 98012 or deliver to city hall no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 29.

Construction begins on parks

Work on two new parks in the city of Mill Creek began this week.

On Monday, July 25, construction crews began cutting trees, clearing brush and grading land for Cougar Park, a new city park located at 148th St. SE. and 32nd Drive SE., across from Mill Creek Elementary School.

In addition, crews began removing soil at Vineyards Park, located at Mill Creek Boulevard and 12th Avenue SE. in the Vineyards neighborhood.

Public works staff for the city of Mill Creek expect both projects to be completed by late September.

The property is located at 17032 35th Ave. SE. The hearing takes place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 in the county administration east building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
