32nd Democratic dinner event

The 32nd Democratic Legislative District is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Endorsement Meeting beginning at 5:30 on Friday, Aug. 12.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at American Legion Hall, 14521 17th Ave. NE.

A suggested donation of $5 will be accepted, and attendees can win raffle prizes as well as meet candidates.

Citizen disaster preparedness class

The city of Shoreline and the Shoreline Fire Department will offer a Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) class beginning 6:30- 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8. CERT is a way for neighborhoods, businesses, schools and other organizations to be prepared for a major disaster. The class will be held on consecutive Thursday evenings through Oct. 20, with an additional morning class on May 22.

The CERT class, to be held at Fire Department Headquarters, 17525 Aurora Ave. N, will be offered to citizens who live or work in Shoreline. Students must be willing to attend all sessions, and to pay a $15 fee for approved safety equipment. Final ‘Shoreline Star’ announced

Shoreline resident Herb Bryce has been selected as a Shoreline Star and will be the last Star honored at a Shoreline City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Aug.15.

As a Shoreline Star, Bryce is being honored for his contribution to the Shoreline community. He has been involved with many organizations, including the Shoreline School Board, Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council and the Shoreline Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Board.

Bryce is the last of 12 Shoreline Stars to be honored at City Council meetings during 2005 for the purpose of the city’s 10-Year anniversary celebration. He has also been selected the Grand Marshall for the Celebrate Shoreline Parade on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Ice cream, music at social event

The Ridgecrest and North City Neighborhood associations invite residents to join them for free ice cream and live music from 6 p.m. until dusk on Thursday Aug. 18. The event will take place at the Paramount Park Picnic Shelter at NE. 155th Street between Eighth and 10th avenues NE). Kids’ crafts and volleyball will be provided and the Around the Sound Community Band will perform. The event is free.
