Family relief fund for Joseph Green
A Family Relief Fund for 14-year-old Joseph Green, who was struck by a car while in a marked Shoreline crosswalk, has been set up at City Bank, account #116727530806. There is also an account at Washington Mutual Bank.
Neither the driver of the car that struck Green, nor the owner of the car, had insurance and hospital bills are mounting at about $20,000 a day, as Green has had to undergo several surgeries.
Money secured for Shoreline projects
A transportation bill that recently passed Congress, and which the President will soon sign into law, includes funding for two Shoreline projects, secured by Congressman Jay Inslee.
• $1.6 million for the Interurban Trail in Shoreline. This funding will complete the trail, which provides a safe bike and pedestrian avenue to travel the length of Shoreline. The trail also creates a pedestrian bridge crossing off Aurora Avenue N. and continues regional trail improvements that, when completed, will unify communities from Seattle to Everett.
• $2.6 million for reconstruction of Aurora Ave. N. in Shoreline between N. 145th St. and N. 205th St. The project will improve commerce, pedestrian safety and congestion mitigation with the improved roadway design.
