Public comment on Aegis North site

A State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review is open for public comment through May 9 on a building on the north parcel of the Aegis Assisted Living Facility, located at 15200 First Ave. NE., in Shoreline. Concern has been brought forth by Shoreline residents Patty and Tim Crawford, who contend the site is in the buffer area of Thornton Creek, Peverly Pond and additional wetlands. Comments can be submitted in writing to: Planning and Development Services, city of Shoreline, 17544 Midvale Ave. N., Shoreline, WA, 98155.

The issue has been a five-year-long debate between some Shoreline citizens, Thornton Creek Groups, state Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Transportation and the city of Shoreline. To inform residents about one side of the issue, the documentary film “Up Thornton Creek,” which chronicles the Crawfords’ desire to protect Thornton Creek from development will be aired 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at Highland Ice Arena, 18005 Aurora Ave. N., Shoreline.
