Library open house, editor appearance

The Mill Creek Library will host an open house for the community from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24.

The event will include lessons about using the catalog, accessing a library account online and other information. Light refreshments will be served and prizes for children will be given away.

In addition, community members can meet Mill Creek Enterprise news editor John Santana at the event and talk about The Enterprise and happenings in Mill Creek.

TV news anchor to speak to local club

Jean Enerson, an anchor for KING-TV news, is the featured speaker at this month’s meeting of the Mill Creek Women’s Club.

Fire District 1 OKs contract with its chief

The Snohomish County Fire District 1 Board of Commissioners approved a five-year contract with fire chief Ed Widdis.

The board approved the contract at its Feb. 1 meeting. Widdis was appointed by the board to the department’s top post last April. A 24-year veteran with the department and long-time resident of south Snohomish County, Widdis previously served as the district’s assistant fire chief and interim fire chief.

District 1 serves areas west of the Mill Creek city limits.

Donate sweaters at The Enterprise Newspapers

The Enterprise Newspapers is a donation point in eighth annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive.

The drive, an annual event of KCTS-TV and Northwest Harvest, collects new and gently used sweaters for needy individuals in the Puget Sound region.

The Enterprise offices are at 4303 198th St. SW, Lynnwood. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The drive runs through February.

Senior steering committee meets

The next Greater Mill Creek Senior Program’s steering committee meeting is 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.

The seniors meet the second Monday of each month to plan and organize program activities.
