Christmas tree recycling event
If disposing of the Christmas tree is on your to-do list after the holidays, Shoreline residents have several options, including giving your tree a second life by recycling it as wood chips.
The city of Shoreline is hosting a Christmas Tree Recycling Event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 8 and 9, at Hamlin Park, 16006 15th Ave. NE. This is the only tree recycling event in the city. Youth groups offering tree pickup service as a fund-raiser often bring the trees to the Shoreline event.
Trees will be chipped on-site, and the wood chips offered to residents who bring a container. Remaining chips will be taken to Cedar Grove Compost Facility. The free tree recycling is open to Shoreline residents only, so please bring proof of residency.
Please follow these important guidelines before bringing your tree to be recycled: Remove all hooks, ornaments and tree stands from the trees. No wreaths, swags or artificial trees can be accepted.
For more information about the Christmas tree recycling event, call 206-546-1700.
