SCSC receives multiple grants
The South County Senior Center recently received a $5,000 grant from the Hubbard Foundation to go toward purchasing 12 new computers for the Center’s lab. Previously, the foundation provided the SCSC with a grant to purchase a new telephone system as well as a large capacity freezer.
The Senior Kiwanis of Edmonds also donated $360 to the center to purchase three new tables in the dining room.
Ladies auxiliary meeting date set
The first meeting of the newly formed Ladies Auxiliary for Post 8870 is set for 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Edmonds Senior Center.

Learn to sign
with your baby
Edmonds’ Frances Anderson Center will host instructor Nancy Hanauer for two sessions of “Learn to sign with your baby” classes 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays February 4-25 and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays April 1-22. Cost: $88.
Hanauer, a Washington State Certified Teacher with more than 14 years of teaching experience, will teach parents and grandparents to use American Sign Language as a temporary means of communication with babies as young as seven months old. For more information, go to www.signingbabies.net.
Super Bowl
party planned
Edmonds community members are invited to the 11th Annual Super Bowl Party hosted by Faith Community Church, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 at the church, 10220 238th St. SW in Edmonds.
Fans will be treated to a game presentation on a big screen TV courtesy of Good Guys in Lynnwood. All guests are asked to bring a cash or food donation for the Edmonds Food Bank and a snack dish to share with everyone. Visitors may bring their own favorite sports chair for their viewing comfort. Quarterly prizes will be awarded from The Sub Shop, Happy Burger and Teriyaki and Woodway Texaco.
