Red light warning in Lynnwood

The Lynnwood Police Department recently kicked off its red light running campaign, said Sgt. Chuck Steichen.

Officers are currently out in force at multiple intersections, especially along 196th Street throughout the city, stopping and citing those who run red lights, Steichen said.

According to Steichen, officers in unmarked cars are stationed near intersections and call out over the radio the violators for officers waiting down the street to pull over.

With school starting and holiday season around the corner congestion of traffic in Lynnwood will increase, he said.

“If we start addressing or attack the problem now, then we get people in the right frame of mind for later when the traffic really starts picking up,” Steichen said.
