Entertainment set for tree lighting
The entertainment lineup has been set for the city of Mill Creek’s annual “Deck the City Halls” Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Performing are the first grade students from Penny Creek Elementary School and the Jackson High School Jazz Band.
Festivities will begin at 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30 at City Hall, 15728 Main St. Santa Claus will arrive at 7:15 p.m. and the tree will be lit at 7:30 p.m.
Enterprise food drive begins
The Enterprise Newspapers is conducting a food drive to benefit area food banks.
Donors can bring canned and non-perishable food items from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays to The Enterprise office, 4303 198th St. SW, Lynnwood, through Dec. 10.

City hall two-day holiday closure
Mill Creek City Hall offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. City Hall will re-open Monday, Nov. 29.
Spots open on advisory boards
Seven spots are available on a pair of city of Mill Creek advisory boards.
Six of the spots are on the city’s art/beautification advisory board.
Two of the spots are mid-term vacancies for business representatives and four are mid-term spots for at-large positions.
The other position is with the city’s library board of trustees.
Anyone interested in volunteering for any of the positions can send a letter of interest to city clerk Kelly Hennessey, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek, Wash., 98012; or e-mail kelly@cityofmillcreek.com.
Application deadline for all available positions are Friday, Nov. 26.
Engineer nets city quarterly honor
Scott Smith, the assistant engineer for the city of Mill Creek, was named the city’s employee of the quarter for the period of July to September.
Smith has served as project manager on several city road projects, including the Main Street connector project.
Donations needed for Rescue Pup
Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.
Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a non-profit pet supply store the organization operates. Pet Pleasers is located next to Claire’s Pantry at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.

DARE chocolate shield fund raiser
Mill Creek police are selling police department chocolate shields for $2 to benefit the DARE program.
The shields were made from a mold that was designed with the Mill Creek water wheel and the words “Mill Creek Police.” The shields can be purchased at the police department’s service counter inside City Hall, 15728 Main St.
