Meeting to discuss Interurban Trail
Edmonds city staff will host a community meeting to discuss the proposed development of the City of Edmonds Interurban Trail from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 in the Plaza Room at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St.
Topics will include possible trail alignments, configurations and specific trail features, but the focus will be on gathering community comments on the subject.
The proposed trail would start at the south city limit on 76th Ave. W, continue north to the PUD, crossing McAleer Way, continuing north along the old Interurban rail line, ending at the north city limit at 228th St. SW.
Everyone is welcome and representatives from the city’s Parks and Development Services departments will be in attendance.

Celebrate this year’s harvest
The Edmonds Masonic Center Analia Chapter #112, OES will host its Annual Harvest Dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at the center, 515 Dayton Avenue, in Edmonds. Local candidates forum date set
The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18 at City Council Chambers, 250 5th Ave. N, Edmonds. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and a question and answer sessions will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.

Calling all
local artists
At their regular meeting Tuesday, Oct. 5, members of the Edmonds City Council approved the search for local artists to work on a project for the exterior south wall of City Hall.
According to a City Council agenda memo, $11,050 has been earmarked for the creation of artwork for the wall, which will be made with recycled copper salvaged from the damaged art piece installed by the downtown fountain that was removed in 1998. The name “City Hall” will also be added to the wall, just east of the new artwork, as will a plaque referring to the history of the art piece.

Trick or treat safely downtown
From 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, streets in downtown Edmonds will be closed off to automobile traffic. Participating merchants will be handing out treats on Main Street, in Old Mill Town and along Fifth Avenue South.
Ghouls, monsters, pumpkins, witches, aliens and political impersonators are typically present, as well as Oxy Gene, the mascot for Community Transit, and McGruff “the Safety Dog” (accompanied by the Edmonds Police Department).

from a trunk
Alderwood Community Church is hosting “Trunk, Treat, and Movie Night” from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 at the church. There will be carnival games, treats from decorated car trunks, and an auditorium showing of Finding Nemo. Dinner items can be purchased for a minimal cost for the entire family. Food bin ready
for donations
The Edmonds Food Bank has set up a food bin in front of Dan Skeels State Farm Agency, 210 5th Ave South, Suite 103, Edmonds, next door to Tully’s. The bin will remain there through Nov. 30.
