North City car show Saturday
The North City Business Association is sponsoring a car show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18, located along 177th Avenue NE from 15th Avenue and throughout the parking lot of the Shoreline Water District.
About 100 cars are expected of all models and makes. Admission for vehicles is $15 and one can of food for the Shoreline food bank. Admission for spectators is a requested donation of one can of food. There will be canned food to purchase for $1 for those who forget to bring food.

Art sale to benefit Special Olympics
A garage art sale, to benefit the Special Olympics in Washington, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at NE 177th Street and 15th Ave. NE, in Shoreline.
The sale is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign and is sponsored by the Shoreline police department. Businesses have donated items for sale, including plaques, posters, pictures, clocks, and other novelties.
Upcoming arts and crafts festival
Early holiday shoppers will find treasures at Arts &Old Lace, a festival of crafts, art music and food 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church, 14724 First Avenue NE.
Entertainment throughout the day includes Rolling Crones chorus and Crone Thunder drummers and Raging Grannies. Poets Peggy Gilbert, Edith Pope Patten and Phyllis Roberts will recite their works. Elizabeth Davis and Ellie Crandall will deliver monologues.

Garage sale for karate kids
An indoor garage sale is scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at USA Karate, located at 1535 NE 177th St, in Shoreline.
All proceeds from the sale will be donated to amateur athletes of USA Karate who will be traveling to the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, next July.
Diabetes Wellness Group classes set
Residents are invited to attend classes focused on teaching people how to lower risks from complications of diabetes.The classes, facilitated by Molly Boll, a former Lake Forest Park resident, are scheduled 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Monday, Sept. 27. Classes are held at Lake Forest Park City Hall, 17425 Ballinger Way NE.
At the class, a University of Washington diabetes nutritionist will speak on the glycemia index, carb-counting and other recent developments in diabetes care. To pre-register, call 425-836-4315.
