Town Center plan is approved
The Mill Creek Planning Commission unanimously approved the plans for phase three of Town Center during its Dec. 16 meeting.
Commissioners made one change to the plan submitted by Bellevue-based developer Wakefield Pacific, and that was to add a children’s play area to a proposed four-story, 48-unit residential building.
The property for phase three is located south of 153rd Street SE and west of Main Street. Plans include 124,424 square feet of retail, restaurant, office and residential uses, with street-level parking and a parking garage.
The plan goes before the City Council for discussion on Jan. 11, with a vote to approve slated for Jan. 25.

Assistance needed for Rescue Pup
Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.
Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a non-profit pet supply store the organization operates. Pet Pleasers is located at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.
In addition to donations, the organization also needs volunteers to serve as foster homes for dogs it receives.

Low-cost bike and ski helmets
Snohomish County Fire District 1 has bicycle, multi-sport and ski helmets available to the public for a small donation.
Ski helmets are available at the Mariner Fire Station only (12310 Meridian Ave., Everett) for a donation of $16.
Bicycle helmets are available for a $5 donation and the multi-sport helmets suitable for skate boarding, bicycling and rollerblading are available for a $6.50 donation at most district 1 fire stations. Prices for bike and multi-sport helmets will be going up Jan. 1.
The helmet program is part of Fire District 1’s injury prevention program. Firefighters are trained to custom-fit all helmets. Properly fitted helmets are highly effective in preventing head injuries.
